The Hillcrest Apartments constructed in 1917 consist
of 7 apartment buildings with a total of 53 individual
units on Third Avenue in South St. Paul. While some units
share similar floor plans each is unique. Many feature
sunrooms, original natural woodwork, as wells built-in
features and details not found in today's pre-fabricated
Pictured below is a view of two of the one-bedroom buildings.
Many of the spacious one and two bedroom units include
a living room and dining room (separated by built-in bookcases
with "craftsman"-style pillars), sunroom, kitchen with
separate entrance and bath. There are also spacious closets:
one in the bedroom, a hall linen closet with built-in
drawers, and a coat closet.
Notice the brick breezeway between the
buildings, with the attractive arches.
